It was 21 years ago this week that Darius came third in the Pop Idol semi-finals.

Darius, who was 21 at the time of the competition, received 20.9% of the 5.8 million votes cast in favour of his performances of Toploader's "Dancing In The Moonlight" and The Walker Brothers' "Make it Easy on Yourself".

After the show Darius said: "I once said my dream was to have a platinum album by the age of 35. Over a million people voted for me and if those votes were translated into album sales, I'd have my platinum album already!"

And of course Darius DID go on to have a platinum album, with his debut release 'Dive In'.
