🦋In 2015 Darius was cast as Nick Arnstein in 'Funny Girl' opposite Sheridan Smith as Fanny Brice. The pair took the sell out show from the Menier Chocolate Factory to The Savoy and on to an award winning UK tour.
On this day in 2015 'Funny Girl' had its official Press Night at the Menier Chocolate Factory in London.
Speaking to Digital Spy at the time about taking on his role in the show Darius said: "Given that this is arguably the most beloved romantic comedy musical of all time, it had a Tony-winning director [Michael Mayer] who was on my top five theatre director wishlist, and then you add that I'd get to play opposite a friend of mine that I admire so much as an artist in Sheridan Smith. She's a ball of energy, and complexity, and joy, and vulnerability, and she's someone I've wanted to work with for such a long time.
"The idea of performing in a role that was played by Omar Sharif, who my father looked like. My dad was a doctor who invented the first heart-lung-kidney machine for premature babies, and they used to call him Dr Zhivago. So that kinda completed it, I was like ,'OK, done, where do I sign?'"
