On this day in 2002 Darius visited WH Smith in Glasgow to sign copies of his debut single 'Colourblind'. He was hotly tipped to be about to top the charts at the time and was outselling his fellow Pop Idol contestant Gareth Gates 2 to 1.
According to the Daily Record at the time excited fans queued for nearly 12 hours to meet him.
Over 500 lucky fans managed to get tickets to meet Darius with 200 others waiting outside.
Speaking at the signing Darius said: "I wish I could go and give every single fan a big hug."
